When our washer quit, I assumed we would need to replace the whole machine. After finding out this switch was bad, I ordered it and once it came, cut & spliced it into the existing wiring (to much trouble taking the whole machine apart) I left enough wire and soldered them together & used shrink tubing to seal the splice. I also used the sleeve that came with it to keep the wires from hanging down in the machine by taping it to the inside of the frame with Gorilla tape. Been working great ever since

949238 Washer lid switch was a Prefect replacement for the original switch in our 15 year old Kenmore washer. The price was low, too. After reading reviews on the new washers, my wife was happy that I could fix ours. It was easy to replace the switch AFTER seeing the U Tube video's (I should have looked there 1st). This item was exactly what our older Kenmore 70 Series top load washer needed to rejuvenate the lid switch mechanism. And at a very nice price too! While it didn't come with any instructions ( I didn't expect it to ) there are some really good YouTube videos on the process that made the job simple and fast. The actual repair took less than 15 minutes, its that easy! The grounding cable was about 5 inches shorter than the original, but still plenty long enough for the job (with less consumption of resources, thus a good change!)
