Brand is notorious for these burning out. Fortunately, OEM replacement part is available at a reasonable cost and while awkward to replace, once you know how, an easy, inexpensive fix for the DIYer and cheaper than calling in a service repair person or replacing the refrigerator/freezer.

Was advertised to be oem. I don’t think it was because it was not in any ge package nor was no part number on it and the ends were a different color then any oem that I have seen pictures of. Kept it cause I needed to get my refrigerator working.

So far so good. Exact fit replacement part. The old one lasted 5+ years. This one has only been installed for about 10 days and is working perfectly. I just really hate the mindless engineering that needs to defrost the evaporator coil using an energy wasting 750 watt light bulb. In the good old days you defrosted your refrigerator by turning it off overnight with a towel inside to absorb the melted condensate. These modern frost free refrigerators break down all the time.

I purchased an off brand defrost assembly last year and it died. This time I'll spend a little more money and hope that it will last a few years.

My defrost heater went out on my twenty year old refrigerator. My appliance repairman wanted two hundred fifty to repair it. So I went online to find out how to replace the heater. This is where I got the actual part number to look for. So I found it, bought it (for less than fifteen ), received it in just three days. It is a simple replacement, and installs easy. The hardest part is defrosting the freezer coils. You need a hair dryer or better yet, an industrial heat dryer to do this quickly. The refrigerator is running great, I saved two hundred thirty five, and my food is nice and cold. This was really a money saver!
