Saved the washer
Direct drive washing machines don't need belts, but the plastic coupling can break, making a load noise while the machine stops rotating. This coupling was relatively easy to install. It helps to use a 6" clamp to squeeze the motor closer allowing the spring clips to engage without special tools. Machine has been working fine for 2 weeks now.

Due to the great price, I bought 2. Ok, truth be told, when I saw what the washer was doing ( or rather, NOT doing) I figured this was the fix.But being the ultimate pessimist, I bought 2 in case I was wrong and it spun the 1st one, then I would already have the 2nd on hand to complete the task. Items arrived in a timely manner, well packaged in factory wrapping and fit like a glove to the shaft. Start to finish, maybe 40 minutes...slowing down a little with age....anyway, washing clothes again for almost 3 weeks! Due to the great price, I bought 2. Works great in our old Whilrpool washer;
Easy to install with basic mechanical ability. But have a youtube video on hand to guide you on taking apart the washer, and then reassembling. Have patience, and a lot of room (move to garage or back yard.) In our Whirlpool, gear oil will lead from the top port, when you lay the machine on its side to work on it. So work quickly. You can lose a little and be OK.
